My name is Auke de Haan, and I’m a true Frisian from Friesland, a small town called Harkema. I’ve lived in Austria, Spain, and Germany. My journey with languages sparked a passion for Frisian — a language I realised is uniquely special.

Driven by my love for Frisian, I founded www.learnfrisian.com with a clear mission: to preserve and revive the Frisian language. I’m committed to ensuring Frisian thrives for future generations.

COURSE CONTENT

The course is designed for English speakers. Since Frisian is the closest language to English, it’s going to be easy to compare the two languages.

You will have access to 45 video lessons covering grammar, key questions, alphabet and numbers, and lots of vocabulary! Plus a multiple-choice test at the end of every module.

No previous knowledge required. The course starts from absolute basics and gradually increases in difficulty.

IN MY COURSE YOU WILL LEARN

BASIC EXPRESSIONS AND GRAMMAR

Introduction to basic greetings and other simple but key grammar. We will analyze basic grammatical structures that will enable you to understand increasingly complex topics.

DAILY LIFE EXPRESSIONS

I will provide you with skills to deal with everyday situations: you will be able to ask your name, age and time, introduce yourself, express gratitude and apologize. You will be able to order food and drinks and ask for the price.

NUMBERS, ALPHABET AND TONES

You will be able to pronounce letters, numbers and words correctly. Building a solid foundation in pronunciation is essential to help you master this language!

VOCABULARY

Through the course you will enrich your vocabulary lesson by lesson. Colors, animals, food, seasons, days of the week and much more. Through listening, practice, and exercises you will manage the language and understand basic dialogues in Frisian.

This video shows what the courses, videos and additional materials look like. The courses are divided into several sections, containing 45 video lessons and exercises.

I recommend watching the sessions in order, as the courses offer a sequential and logical learning path. All videos are in FULL HD and you can adjust speed, audio and quality.

In all my videos, I use visual elements such as pictures, tables, and graphs, while you can also see me talking directly to you, making the lessons as engaging as possible.
